ELEE 2530U – Electrical Engineering Mathematics: Essentials and Applications

This course is to prepare students to use essential concepts and techniques of differential equations and complex analysis for electrical engineering applications. Topics include: linear, first-/second-order, homogeneous/non-homogeneous ordinary differential equations (DE); an overview of series and numerical solutions as well as an introduction to partial DE; the Laplace transform, the inverse transform, transforms of derivatives and integrals, and applications of Laplace transform to DE; complex numbers, complex representations and functions, roots and powers, derivatives, basics of analyticity, continuity, complex integration including Cauchy integral and residues. Applications of the introduced theory and techniques to electrical engineering practice are provided.
