NUCL 5400G - Advanced Radiation Science

This course introduces advanced concepts in radiation engineering, with an emphasis on how ionizing radiation interactions with matter may be modelled. The course reviews fundamental particle interaction mechanics, measurement and detection of radiation, evaluation of nuclear cross sections and various solutions to the Boltzmann transport equation.
Credit hours: 3
Prerequisite(s): Undergraduate courses in nuclear physics, radiation detection and the interaction of radiation with matter, or NUCL 5060G - Nuclear Concepts for Engineers and Scientists , differential equations and statistics.
