HLSC 2820U – Nutrition for Nursing Practice This course will focus on nutrition as a determinant of health. Learners will examine the basic principles and applications of nutrition throughout the life cycle. Physiological, psychological, socio-economic, physical, educational and cultural factors which influence both access to food and eating behaviours are explored using a population health promotion framework. Special emphasis is given to innovative and effective community-based nutrition programs and services in Canada targeting at-risk groups and the identification of appropriate nutrition-related community resources.
