By the end of the program, students graduating will be able to:

  • Apply engineering design process/methodology to solve open-ended design problems.
  • Solve design problems by integrating principles from the four key areas of mechatronics (mechanical, electronics, software and controls) in a concurrent manner.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team to solve mechatronics design problems.
  • Employ computer-aided engineering and project management software tools to solve mechatronics design problems.
  • Communicate effectively in written, spoken and visual form with both technical experts and with members of the general public on engineering matters.
  • Recognize and value the alternative outlooks that people from various social, ethnic and religious backgrounds may bring to mechatronics engineering.
  • Appreciate the importance of new and emerging technologies, and the strategies available for life-long learning.
