General information
The Bachelor of Health Administration (BHA) program is collaboratively offered with the Faculty of Business and Information Technology (FBIT). The BHA is a full-time degree program offering courses through in-class, hybrid and online delivery formats as well as work-integrated learning experiences in health care institutions and agencies in Durham Region. The Health Administration program has been developed according to the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) health administration competencies framework with the goal of becoming a certified AUPHA program.
What does this mean for BHA graduates? AUPHA certification of the BHA program will increase the eligibility of graduates for entry into accredited Master’s in Health Administration (MHA) programs, supporting further career development.
While completing the Health Administration program, students can also complete concurrently, a minor in Entrepreneurship from the Faculty of Business and Information Technology (FBIT).
Health care is a dynamic and rapidly growing sector requiring frontline providers and Health Administration professionals who will better meet current and emerging health care challenges and needs. The BHA program is designed to prepare students for entry-level management positions in primary care, health clinics, hospitals, long-term care, and community social agencies. As well as health-related positions in municipal, provincial, and federal governments. Health Administration graduates will be prepared to work in areas of operations, management, finance and planning in a variety of health-care sectors and fields.
The BHA program includes a work-integrated learning experience comprised of a 120-hour practicum experience and training in a health-care institution or agency to better prepare Ontario Tech University students for employment in the health care sector.
