METE 3400U – Automatic Control Systems

This course covers the fundamentals of classical control theory and its application in analyzing and controlling linear time-invariant dynamic systems. The focus of this course includes the influence of feedback control on the stability, transient and steady state characteristics of dynamic systems. The course will develop knowledge to design common controllers, including PID controllers and lead-lag filters, using root locus, Routh-Horwitz criteria and frequency response methods. This course will include applied learning activities that focus on addressing common application challenges such as integral windup, sensor noise and time delays.
