KINE 2002U – Fitness and Health Promotion Bridge


This course is designed to provide Fitness and Health Promotion (FHP) students with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to bridge into the Kinesiology program in combination with other courses. It covers quantitative and qualitative research theories, methodologies, and methods within kinesiology. It compares experimental, non-experimental and community-based research with an emphasis on the strengths of limitations of different research methods. Students will have an opportunity to explore innovative study designs, and demonstrate the application of research methods during the planning of the research process. Students will also be introduced to assessment of limb injuries, emergency assessment and treatment as well as basic taping and support techniques. The lab component provides exposure to hands-on assessment of joint movement, injury assessment, taping and wrapping techniques. This course is a prerequisite to KINE 3476U – Advanced Sport Injury Management .
