ENGR 1050U – Engineering Communications and Technology Impacts


In the first part of the course students will learn the principles of professional oral, written, visual, and interpersonal communication required to effectively communicate in an engineering career. Students will become familiar with common forms of engineering communications, such as technical reports, memos, proposals, emails, and presentations. In the second part of the course students will learn about the impacts of technology including the ethical, environmental, economic, social, and political issues raised by technological change. The focus will be on ways of thinking critically about both the remediation of already existing problems and the prevention of future problems.
