SSCI 5060G - Advanced Methods in Qualitative Research

The objective of this course is to familiarize the students with the principles of qualitative research. This course does not assume prior knowledge of qualitative methods other than a basic introduction to methods in a general undergraduate methods course. Students are exposed to a variety of qualitative methods including, but not limited to, issues of overt and covert research, comparing and contrasting qualitative and quantitative methods, content analysis, participant observation and historical comparative methods. Students also learn how to use these methods with quantitative methods.
