BUSI 2040U – Information Systems This course provides a broad introduction to the many elements that comprise an information system and explores the underlying information technologies and their impact on organizations. Emphasis is placed on managers’ information needs, the various kinds of support necessary for decision-making, and the functional and strategic implications of information systems for organizations. Students will also be introduced to concepts regarding the design of information systems to enable them to communicate the needs of their functional business area to technical personnel. This will enable their organization to obtain an information system that meets a specific need and provides a competitive advantage in their industry. The course also includes a practical element, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with popular Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
