PSYC 5220G - Social Cognition

This course provides a critical overview of theory and research in social cognition.  Key papers in cognitive psychology will also be discussed. Topics may include automatic versus controlled processing, categories and concepts, priming paradigms, encoding and retrieval, motivation effects, misperception, and replicability, as well as the application of this research to areas such as the self, consciousness, stereotypes & prejudice, person perception, and decision making.
Credit hours: 3
