HLSC 7210G - Advanced Statistics for Health Sciences


This course builds on Intermediate Statistics for Health Sciences and will provide in-depth knowledge of the latest tools for analyzing health related data. This course covers data cleaning, data transformation, exploratory analysis, modelling and visualization. Students will learn multiple linear regression, survival analysis, longitudinal and mixed models, and analysis of complex survey data. Students will also learn to address common data issues encountered in health-related research, including nonresponse, omitted variable, and selection bias. This course focuses on theory and applied methods, which will allow students to engage with the literature and effectively use data to conduct and communicate their own research. Applied work in this course will be completed in common statistical software packages (e.g., R, SAS).
