This course builds on the skills developed in Occupational Ergonomics (4475U) to provide a deeper understanding of the etiology of workplace injuries and quantitative risk assessment. This course will place a major emphasis on proactive ergonomics approaches, including in depth theoretical and practical evaluation of digital human modeling technologies. Students will gain an appreciation for how human biomechanics, physiology and movement behaviour are predicted using theoretical models, and will evaluate the strengths and limitations of such approaches. By the end of this course, students will be equipped with the tools needed to become a professional ergonomist.
