HLSC 5324G - Critical Issues in Skilled Performance

This course considers previous and current research on the acquisition of expert performance in sport and other domains (e.g., music, arts, and other professions with performance demands). Emphasis is placed on developing a critical multidisciplinary (e.g., anatomy, psychology, sociology and motor learning) understanding of the constraints on human performance and development throughout the lifespan, as well as the positive and negative consequences of identifying and developing skilled performance. This course may be of interest to graduate students from a range of backgrounds, including kinesiology, education, nursing, community and health care practitioners.
