KINE 4412U – Exercise Rehabilitation I: Cardiac, Respiratory and Metabolic Conditions This course will focus on exercise prescription and exercise modification for those with chronic conditions related to the cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic systems. An emphasis will be placed on the role of exercise in primary and secondary prevention (pre-habilitation) and on the use of exercise as an adjunct treatment for rehabilitation. This course will cover relevant pathophysiology, pharmacology and exercise physiology of important cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic conditions using problem-based learning, case studies and laboratory based assignments. Credit hours: 3 Lecture hours: 3 Laboratory hours: 2 (biweekly) Prerequisite(s): (HLSC 3480U or KINE 3000U ) and (HLSC 3481U or KINE 2130U ) Credit restriction(s): HLSC 4402U or HLSC 4412U
