HLSC 2820U – Nutrition for Nursing Practice This is an introductory nutrition course to provide nursing students with fundamental knowledge related to food and nutrition. Factors influencing eating behaviours and the identification of nutritional problems are explored. A focus includes individual and public health interventions that can be implemented to prevent and manage non-communicable diseases, the basic principles of clinical nutrition interventions for at-risk individuals related to malnutrition and nutrition support, and nutritional needs at critical stages of the life cycle. Emphasis is placed upon the identification and use of credible nutrition resources.
