SSCI 6940G - Professional Development and Teaching in the Social Sciences

This course is designed to assist students with navigating their professional development from graduate student to independent junior scholar in academia, not-for-profit research or industry research. Topics will include professional writing and speaking, creating a curriculum vitae, the thesis and thesis processes, developing a course syllabus, developing a course lecture, professional networking, professional job applications, interviewing, succeeding in an independent position, continuing professional development and work-family balance.
