PSYC 5610G - The Child Witness It is only relatively recently that young children have been permitted to testify as witnesses in court. In fact, for several decades, it was believed that children were inaccurate and unreliable. In this course, we will explore how children’s socio-cognitive development affects their abilities to remember and report events. Using contemporary theory and research in the field, we will also examine the strengths and weaknesses of children’s evidence. Credit hours: 3
