CSCI 6330G - Network Modeling and Simulation The objective of this course is to provide students with knowledge of the theory and methods used in modeling and simulating communication networks. Students learn the basic principles of discrete-event simulation, modeling of network protocols, interfaces, channels and network applications. Specific focus is placed on modeling of wireless and mobile networks. Other topics covered include methods for modeling network topologies, node mobility and traffic patterns, as well as performance modeling and simulation data collection. This course will provide students with hands-on project experience through the use of a commonly used open source network simulator (e.g., NS-3, OMNET++). Credit hours: 3 Prerequisite(s): CSCI 5300G or MITS 5200G or ENGR 5660G or instructor approval.
