Program Learning Outcomes - Chemistry

By the end of the program, students graduating will be able to:

• Critically analyze and interpret experimental results in order to judge their reliability and understand the nature of studied processes.
• Use modern chemistry laboratory techniques and equipment.
• Develop effective teamwork skills, including professional conduct, and respect for team members of diverse backgrounds within the scientific community.
• Use chemistry software to solve problems, acquire and process data, perform theoretical modelling and report results.
• Perform as a chemical professional, employing an interdisciplinary approach in important chemistry-related areas such as materials science, pharmaceutical chemistry, biochemistry and computational chemistry.
• Apply knowledge of chemistry-related concepts, theories and principles to professional practice in their chosen careers.
• Identify the environmental, safety and economic consequences of the chemical industry in local, national and global context.
• Communicate effectively in written, spoken, and visual form with both technical experts and members of the general public on issues in chemistry.
