Program Learning Outcomes - Nursing
|
|
By the end of the program, students graduating will be able to:
- Use nursing science, knowledge, and skills to promote health and healing of individuals, families, groups and communities.
- Establish professional, caring relationships with individual clients, families, groups, and communities.
- Establish professional relationships with nursing colleagues and interdisciplinary health team members.
- Communicate effectively, using oral, written, and information technology skills.
- Use critical thinking, scientific inquiry, problem solving, and other ways of knowing within a decision-making framework.
- Apply leadership and managerial abilities to provide quality care for clients, and quality of work-life for colleagues.
- Engage in reflective practice and self- directed learning, to support professional growth and development and the quality assurance requirements in nursing.
- Advocate for public policies that will promote the health of individuals, families, groups, and communities.
- Use available research to support evidence-based practice, advance health care, and promote the nursing profession.
- Practice nursing based on a conceptual framework, and a clear understanding of the professional contribution of nursing in health care.
- Practice and promote the professional practice requirements as outlined in the College of Nurses of Ontario Professional Standards for Registered Nurses and Entry to Practice Competencies for Registered Nurses, and in the Canadian Association of University Schools of Nursing Statement on Baccalaureate Education.
