Communication and Digital Media Studies minor

General information and requirements


Communications and digital media are everywhere and in everything. Journalists, public affairs officers, content creators, entertainment makers, branding experts, digital storytellers, social media influencers, consumers, activists and citizens use all kinds of media every day to create, send, and receive messages and images about the world, with the goal of changing it in some way. The open minor in Communication and Digital Media Studies focuses on the drivers, roles, uses, goals, and impacts of all kinds of communication and media forms in relation to the dynamics, problems and changes of modern society. It consists of seven courses (21 credit hours) and is available to students of other majors at our university. A cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 in the minor courses is required to successfully complete the Communication and Digital Studies minor.
