Entrepreneurship minor for FBIT students

General information


The Faculty of Business and Information Technology (FBIT) offers our students the opportunity to take a minor in Entrepreneurship. The information below applies to current FBIT students. If you are a student from outside FBIT who is interested in the Entrepreneurship minor, see Entrepreneurship minor for students outside FBIT .

Admission requirements


FBIT students can apply to the Entrepreneurship minor in the winter semester of their second year. Commerce students must have a minimum 2.3 CGPA and a minimum C+ in each of BUSI 2160U – Financial Accounting II , BUSI 2202U – Marketing II , and BUSI 2401U – Finance I . Networking and IT Security students must have a minimum 2.3 CGPA and a minimum C+ in BUSI 2000U – Collaborative Leadership  and BUSI 2210U – Marketing in the Information Technology Sector .

Academic requirements to major/minor in a Bachelor of Commerce program


In order to remain in their major or minor, students must hold a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (or 2.3 for the Accounting major or minor). Students falling below a 2.0 (or 2.3 in the case of Accounting), will be enrolled in the General Commerce program.

Program requirements


The Entrepreneurship minor for FBIT students requires a minimum of 21 credit hours in Entrepreneurship courses. Students are encouraged to participate in either an internship placement with a start-up company or in the incubator. Students must complete five core entrepreneurship courses and two entrepreneurship electives.
