General information
The Bachelor of Allied Health Sciences (Honours) is a career-oriented program intended to serve the educational needs of graduates from a professional diploma in allied health programs or disciplines (e.g., nurses, massage therapy, paramedics, pharmacy technicians, dental hygienists etc.) This opportunity will prepare allied health professionals to fill leadership and teaching positions in the evolving health care system.
The Bachelor of Allied Health Sciences (Honours) is an interdisciplinary and multi-focused undergraduate degree designed to engage students in the examination of diverse aspects of health, health care delivery, and interdisciplinary research.The program is designed to enrich the specific credentials of diploma graduates with additional breadth and depth of knowledge of health care and of the disciplines and professions that work in the integrated system. The university intends to provide Ontario with efficient and well-educated health workers ready to take on leadership roles.
Admission requirements
Admission is competitive. The specific average or standing required for admission varies from year to year. Students are selected by taking into consideration a wide range of criteria including school marks, distribution of subjects taken, and performance in subjects relevant to the academic program. Possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance. Preference will be given to applicants with the best qualifications. Individuals seeking admission to the honours Bachelor of Allied Health Sciences program must be graduates from one of the identified health professional Ontario college diploma programs (or equivalent) with a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher (on a 4 point scale). Students must complete the following bridging courses with a minimum 2.3 GPA (on a 4.3 point scale) or higher in each: Program details and degree requirements
120 credits including:
a) 57 credits block standing for credits obtained in previous health-related diploma b) Elective requirements: 15 credit hours
