EDST 4670U – Developing Space and Spatial Reasoning

Research suggests that understanding space and spatial reasoning are as important as numeracy for young children. This course is designed to help students understand the importance of spatial reasoning while developing their own abilities. Students will learn important concepts in spatial reasoning, how they typically develop and a variety of pedagogical strategies on the play-instructional continuum. Students will apply this knowledge to noticing children’s spatial skills and thinking and then designing responsive learning environments to support the development of spatial thinking in children with diverse needs.
