EDST 3520U – The Power of Art: Advancing Equity through the Creative Process

In this course, students will examine the intersections found between pedagogy, social justice and the creative process by engaging in critical discussions, theoretical inquiry and arts-based projects that build awareness of social justice issues such as Indigenous rights, poverty, and anti-Black racism. Using a culturally responsive approach, this course includes a variety of hands-on and digital art projects that will provide opportunities for students to participate in the transformative power of artistic expression, in its many forms, while exploring the potential of art to spark societal change.
