ENGR 6001G - PhD Candidacy Exam Each student in the doctoral program is required to prepare a written research proposal and pass an oral candidacy exam. The thesis proposal consists of a literature review to address the current state of knowledge in the research field, thesis objectives, research hypothesis to be tested/examined, proposed methodology, timeline, major milestones and expected significance of the research outcomes. The course includes an oral candidacy exam that evaluates the student’s research proposal, knowledge of the research field and background preparation. This non-credit course is evaluated on a pass/fail basis. Credit hours: 0 Prerequisite(s): Enrolment in the respective engineering PhD program.
