ENGR 5660G - Next Generation Computing and Communication Networks This course provides a detailed technical overview of next generation networks that integrate computing with networking. Modern networks integrate distributed computing and networking in order to achieve ease of management and quality across diverse services. This has been primarily driven by data centric computing, edge and fog services, and support for mobile services. This is known as network convergence. In this course, network convergence reference architectures, protocols, and technologies are studied. Such technologies consist of software-defined networks, virtualization, cloud, fog, and mobile architectures, and cluster networks. Students will understand how to manage network complexity to achieve quality of service and experience as well as how security is integrated into these complex networks. Credit hours: 3 Credit restriction(s): CSCI 5300G and MITS 5200G
