HLSC 4825U – Population Health Risk and Needs Assessment This course explores current theories and methodologies employed to identify actual and/or potential environmental, consumer-based products, foods and other consumables, and toxins that negatively affect health across the lifespan. Specifically, this course examines the critical steps required to conduct a health risk and needs assessment from a public health perspective including hazard identification, exposure assessments, dose and toxic-response evaluations, health risk management of vulnerable populations, and health need priority identification. The course uses a case-study approach to emphasize both qualitative and quantitative approaches to hazard identification, characterization, and the control of environmental and other identified hazards.
