EDST 4150U – Holistic Learning in Early Childhood Education This course focuses on holistic education and well-being for young children and their families. Students will explore culturally relevant and responsive pedagogy in early childhood environments. Theoretical foundations of holistic education and the domains of child development will be introduced. We will compare holistic models of education including Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, Montessori, High Scope, Kindergarten, and Head Start in early childhood. The role of technology in holistic models of education will be addressed. Students will create an evidence-based product for families that will be integrated into a holistic program model that they have designed.
