MLSC 3230U – Microanatomy and Histotechnology The microanatomy component of this course emphasizes the morphological identification of the four basic tissues and the normal arrangement of these tissues in the body systems; an essential prerequisite to the practice of both histotechnology and histopathology. This course also introduces the knowledge and skills associated with histotechnology allowing students to prepare tissue samples for microscopic screening and diagnosis. The specific topics included in the Histotechnology portion of the course include tissue grossing, fixation, processing, embedding and microtomy.
