EDST 2150U – Teaching to Facilitate Learning This course develops an overview of approaches to teaching and learning in both face-to-face and digital environments. The course introduces research-based instructional strategies that support student learning, including student-centered active learning, inquiry-based approaches and (social) constructivist learning. The course emphasizes the interconnected nature of planning, instruction, and assessment, where instructors and learning designers first develop a clear vision of learning needs. Students will also learn to use ongoing formative assessment to guide the selection and implementation of instructional strategies. The interplay of theory and practice is emphasized, as is the important role of reflective practice.
