SSCI 3050U – Policing This course examines the contemporary shifts in the institutions, strategies and practices of policing that have taken place in North America and other parts of the world. These changes in policing are viewed in relation to their broader social, political, and economic context with particular emphasis placed on how these developments have been understood and explained by various scholars. The future challenges and prospects for policing, as well as the implications for democratic values such as justice, equality and civil liberty, are considered.
