MLSC 2131U – Clinical Microbiology I This course provides fundamental microbiology and immunology knowledge with emphasis on prokaryotic cell structure, function and genetics, modes of action of antimicrobial agents and transfer of antimicrobial resistance; the immune response; etiology, pathogenesis, epidemiology, treatment and control of important infectious disease in humans. Laboratory exercises develop fundamental skills in aseptic technique, microscopy, pure culture study, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and the isolation and identification of pathogenic microorganisms.
