BIOL 4052U – Advanced Developmental Biology Laboratory This advanced hands-on laboratory course will focus on early development of vertebrates and invertebrates, with emphasis on the underlying principles and molecular mechanisms involved in differentiation, growth, morphogenesis and patterning. Students will have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of modern experimental techniques currently used in developmental biology. Students will learn to manipulate and examine developmental processes, and interpret and present their results. In addition, this course will provide students with valuable laboratory, analytical and problem solving skills that are relevant to modern biological and health research. Enrolment in this course is generally restricted to students in the Environmental Toxicology and Biotechnology streams. Students from other Faculty of Science programs that wish to take this course must have a minimum GPA of 2.7 and approval from the program director.
