PHY 3900U – Astronomy II An exploration of the universe beyond our solar system using an observational, theoretical, and quantitative approach. Topics covered include stars, the interstellar medium, stellar remnants including black holes and supernovae, the Milky Way, astrobiology, external galaxies and clusters of galaxies, along with a brief introduction to cosmology and the history of the universe. This course is intended as an elective for all science and engineering students who have taken at least one Astronomy course and is a core course for the Astrophysics specialization.
