HLSC 5125G - Health of Individuals with Disabilities

The purpose of this course is to explore the health of individuals with disabilities from an interdisciplinary approach. The social, environmental and personal determinants of health will be explored and interpreted in the context of people with disabilities. Some topics include history and cultural representation of disability, advocacy, health, health care access, health behaviours, rehabilitation, independent living, challenges experienced by family members and public policy.
Credit hours: 3
