HLSC 5115G - Community Health of Vulnerable Populations

This course focuses on the concept of vulnerability from the perspective of individuals, groups and communities. Students identify vulnerable populations and examine the many factors that can contribute to vulnerability, including social issues and determinants of health. The role of advocacy in addressing the quality of life issues facing vulnerable populations is emphasized. Through selected field experiences and self-reflections, students are challenged to begin to find their own voices as advocates for vulnerable populations.
