LGLS 1000U – Foundations of Legal Studies The course provides students with knowledge of the basics of the Canadian legal system (structure of government, court system, and the principles, sources, and types of law) as well as critical perspectives on law and its role in society. The creation and functioning of the law and its relationship with society are examined through the lens of core themes such as: breaking the law, applying the law, making the law, resisting the law, defining the law and studying the law.
