FSCI 3040U – Forensic Chemistry Forensic chemistry introduces the application of analytical chemistry to forensic science. The course focuses on chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques and their applications to forensic science, including: ink and toner identification, paint characterization, examination of tapes and adhesives, serial number restoration, quantitative standards and calibration of analytes, and detection of gunshot residue. The module will also incorporate the principles of light theory and chemical enhancement of fingerprints. Credit hours: 3 Lecture hours: 3 Laboratory hours: 3 Prerequisite(s): FSCI 2010U , CHEM 2030U and enrolment in third year of the Forensic Science program
