Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies

The role of the Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is central to all major academic and administrative graduate study activities.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies include the following:

• Provide leadership, strategic planning and vision, particularly in the growth and development of graduate programs and activities.
• Administer all regulations, policies and procedures relating to graduate studies.
• Chair the Graduate Studies Committee of Academic Council.
• Represent graduate studies at Academic Council.
• Represent the university’s graduate studies to internal and external individuals and groups.

Graduate program directors

Each faculty and/or program has a graduate program director. This role is of critical importance to ensuring the success of the program and its students.

Graduate program directors should have a strong interest in students and their success, thoroughly understand the university’s policies and procedures for graduate studies and be available on a regular basis to assist students seeking advice on issues related to their studies.
